Message From The President

On behalf of the Kelmscott Agricultural Society, I extend a warm welcome to all exhibitors and patrons to the 2011 Kelmscott Annual Show.

This year’s show once again recognizes Kelmscott and the surrounding region’s agricultural heritage through its wide and diverse range of exhibits.  The Exhibition Hall is filled with exhibits of locally grown produce and handmade crafts and is a great place to be if you’re looking for some quiet time away from the crowds.

Another great feature to visit is the Farmyard Nursery and Livestock sections on the lower oval. This area is extremely popular with all patrons and includes the Old MacDonald’s Farmyard Nursery, the Children’s Farmyard Nursery, reptile and raptor displays, sheep shearing demonstrations, dairy goats and milking demonstrations, horses, pigeons & poultry and the donkeys & mules sections.

From here, a walk down towards the river will find the cattle, sheep, rabbits and cavies sections.  While you are there, take a short stroll along the grass banks of the river area.  Here you will find diverse and unique craft stalls and also a number of amusements and rides for toddlers.

If this sounds like too much walking, hop on the showground train.  The train will stop at all areas mentioned and is a great way to get around the grounds

While walking around the grounds, don’t forget to keep an eye on the entertainment program. Entertainment takes place on the upper oval near the Seniors Rest Area and includes a log chop demonstration on Friday night before the fireworks and the State Log Chop Event on Saturday. The main entertainment is located towards the Crafts and River Area at the old swimming pool site. The culmination of each day’s entertainment is the Fireworks Spectacular sponsored by Forrest Rd Fresh.  This not to be missed part of Kelmscott Annual Show, is located on the lower oval and commences at 8:30pm on Friday and Saturday nights.

Finally, our sincere appreciation is extended to all the sponsors, exhibitors and army of workers who contribute so much to make the Kelmscott Annual Show such a successful community event.
